The Skylands Music & Arts Alliance, is a
non-profit cultural institution with the goal of promoting a broad
appreciation of the interplay between culture and artistic expression.
It does this by acting as a forum for artists who best exemplify world
traditions, reflect contemporary trends and explore artistic frontiers,
and by nurturing the artistic and cultural life of its own community in
and around the Skylands region of New Jersey.
Our Mission
The Skylands Music & Arts
Alliance formed as a New Jersey not-for-profit corporation in 1998 and
has been active primarily in the Skylands region of the state. Our
mission is to create a vital regional community of the arts, one that
reveres the traditional arts and music of our many cultures and
simultaneously dares to explore the new forms and ideas from which our
future culture will be made.
Toward that end, we nurture the
work of emerging artists and celebrate the achievements of acknowledged
masters. We educate and engage audiences as active participants in the
artistic process. We work to build strong links between disparate
elements inside and outside the "arts community" and to remove
barriers, both perceived and real, which currently prevent many within
our greater community from participating.
Through our diverse schedule of
events we seek to generate support for
multi-cultural expression and the promotion of active arts for all
people.
The Alliance is headquartered in beautiful Blairstown, NJ in Warren County, one of the five New Jersey counties that make up the Skylands region.
